ICOP utilized three different ground improvement techniques to prepare a site for GF Casting Solution’s automobile manufacturing operations.
First, we installed Geopier Impact® Piers to support lightly loaded areas of the slab. We then installed Geopier GeoConcrete® Columns (GCCs): ready-mix elements that create high-stiffness rigid inclusions throughout the site. Finally, the ICOP team installed Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) rigid inclusions to support heavily loaded slabs and heavy machinery foundations.
This project required ICOP to install approximately 2,000 Impact® Piers, 1,200 GeoConcrete® Columns, and 1,400 Continuous Flight Auger rigid inclusions. This totaled nearly 30 miles of ground improvement.
The size of this endeavor required significant personnel and equipment on site, operating in tandem, which in turn necessitated additional safety considerations.
