Scope

Through extensive coordination with the geotechnical engineer, the wall designer, and the general contractor, ICOP used Geopiers® to support an “impossible” 25-foot tall, 750-foot long retaining wall on weak soils.

Unique Challenges

The designed location of the retaining wall was critical to the site layout — unfortunately, it was placed in an area with weak soils, which would cause the wall to settle.

ICOP overcame this obstacle by installing a grid of Geopier® columns beneath the surface. These rigid inclusions of highly compacted stone create uniform support, economically supporting and controlling the settlement of the wall.
